Destination

The streets
are empty, quiet,
nothing annoying
me now.
In the distance,
the vanishing point
beckons, a destination
unlike any other.

I know it will
take me forever,
but I still have
plenty of time.
So I've been told,
again and again,
but I pay no attention,
my hands always
on the wheel.

Somewhere,
beyond the horizon,
my approach
is expected,
today or maybe
tomorrow;
they say
I'll know
for sure,
the moment
I've arrived.
