The pool nurses
a newborn jacuzzi,
waiting for snowbirds
in the sun.

They're landing
at the end the flyway,
remembering just
how far they've come,

outflying the cold
yet again,
ready to nest
for another year.

He unloads the car
while she opens windows;
they enter the water
without fear.

Up north it's frigid,
the water frozen;
it's nothing
like down here.
