Milky Way

After the city,
I'm sleeping
in the quiet
of the desert.
Like a drug,
I've come back for more.
The silence
soaks into my being,
what I first felt
in the night,
once, long ago

In the dark,
we are slowly turning,
time is forever moving.
The sea of stars
grows brighter
by the hour,
offering a sense
of where we are.
If I were awake
I know I'd see it.
We've arrived,
but don't know
where we're going,
what, exactly,
we might
be here for.
