The Highway

If we leave early
we'll beat the traffic,
bumper to bumper,
mile after mile.
We'll be driving forever
on the highway,
all will follow
in awhile.

We don't need
a destination,
even an idea
of where we're going.
We won't be returning
in the evening,
just to get up
and do it again.
We'll be together
on the highway,
rolling away
without a sound.

We won't worry
about stopping to rest,
fueling up
or breaking down,
as long as we're riding
on the highway,
none can say
just where
we're bound.
