Oral Hygiene

When new,
it's still so full
of promise,
barely showing
the touch of my hand.

Confronting decay,
it's depressed
more often, youth
squeezed out,
washed away,
trying to make up
for the neglect
of others.

Finally,
completely compressed,
it's no longer even
recognizable,
my bored mouth
ready to try
another brand.
In the end,
it can't be refilled
and tasted again.
