In the Darkness

I awaken, trapped
in twisted covers,
wondering what dreams
have left me like this,
how far I've run
in my sleep
to end up here,
in a room
brimming with night,
like being
in the deep end
of the pool,
my opened eyes
seeing no more
than inky shadows,
my ears hearing only
my last whispers
with you, the wind
flowing forever around me,
seeking other windows,
other dreams,
in the darkness.
