No need to watch out
for the weather.
It's still hot,
another Heat Warning
through tomorrow evening,
temperature climbing
hour after hour
until every record
is finally broken.
My skin is so dry,
sensitive even
to the slightest touch,
my heart a cauldron
boiling over,
trying to contain
melted words,
which slip away,
too easily spoken.
It's late afternoon,
when we end up
in the pool,
our only escape
making faces
we cannot understand.
