Out of Sight

I've come here

because someone said

the dry air

would do me good,

though I guess

I was misinformed,

arriving at the end

of the longest road,

one ocean left behind,

another waiting straight ahead.

As far as I can see,

its beaches are choked

with beautiful souls

wandering along the sand,

looking for something

they have lost,

and fear they will not find

in the pale moonlight.

In the water,

I see their destiny

reflected in a million

shimmering stars

on this warm and windless night,

as they slowly begin to enter,

each one moving forward,

disappearing

out of sight.
